President Akufo-Addo completes 14-day isolation, resumes work 20 July

The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, says the president will resume official duties from Monday

The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has announced that President Akufo-Addo will resume official duties from Monday 20 July 2020 after completing 14 days of isolation on the advice of his doctors.

The minister made this disclosure as he addressed the press at the Ministry of Information in Accra today, Sunday 19 July.

The president’s move to isolate himself came after close members of his staff tested positive for COVID-19.

“The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is expected to resume out-of-home engagements from tomorrow after a 14-day precautionary self-isolation period,” the Information Minister announced.

“The president’s precautionary self-isolation was on the advice of his doctors, after at least one person within his close circle tested positive a couple of weeks ago,” Oppong Nkrumah said.

The Information Minister also announced that the Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, has tested negative for COVID-19 after proving positive about two weeks ago.

The Senior Minister, he said, “has been on supportive treatment at home since”.

“He has voluntarily tested again since and he instructs me to update you that his second test on Thursday returned negative sample,” the Information Minister added.
