The Office of the Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, has clarified that he has no plans to contest for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearership after promotional posters surfaced on social media suggesting otherwise.
In a statement released on Thursday, 5 February 2026, the office emphasized that the materials were unauthorized and did not originate from the minister or his team.
“These posters did not originate from Hon. Haruna Iddrisu or his office. The public is therefore urged to disregard the posters and treat them with the utmost contempt they deserve,” the statement said.
The office reassured Ghanaians that the minister remains fully focused on his duties as education minister and member of Parliament for Tamale South.
“Hon. Haruna Iddrisu remains fully focused on his responsibilities as Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South,” the statement added.
It also disclosed that the minister is currently in Lusaka, Zambia, accompanying President John Dramani Mahama to advance the Reset Ghana agenda, particularly in the education sector.
The office thanked the public for their continued support and understanding amid the circulation of the misleading posters.
“The Office thanks the public for their continued support and cooperation,” the statement, signed by the Office of the Minister of Education, concluded.
