GTA boss: Domestic tourism witnessed 55% growth last year

In a bid to sustain the growth and achievement, the GTA is reintroducing its "Experience Ghana, Share Ghana" campaign to drive more traffic to tourism destinations across the country

The chief executive officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyeman, has said domestic tourism in Ghana witnessed a 55% growth last year.

The authority is reintroducing the “Experience Ghana Share Ghana” campaign to drive more traffic to tourism destinations across the country. This is in a bid to sustain the growth and achievement.

Appearing on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (4 April), Agyeman appealed to Ghanaians to patronise the various tourism sites during the Easter festivities.

He said “2022 ended on a very good note for us in terms of domestic tourism where we had about 55 percent growth. Tourist sites like Aburi Botanical Gardens, Kumasi Zoo, Kakum National Park and Bunso Eco Park all did very well.

“So, we want to continue with that. That is why we are going to rekindle our ‘Experience Ghana Share Ghana’ campaign throughout the Kwahu Easter period.

“And what that does is to lead people to various tourist sites and attractions. What we are saying is that, once you are in these areas, share your videos and pictures and you stand the chance of winning prizes.”
