GRIDCo blames power cut in parts of the country to system disturbance in Achimota

A statement issued by GRIDCo on Thursday (27 June) said efforts are under way to restore power to the affected areas

Ghana Grid Company Ltd (GRIDCo) has attributed the power outages being experienced in parts of the country to a system failure in Accra Central.

The development has affected power supply to parts of Accra, the Western regions as well as Northern parts of the country.

According to GRIDCo, the Achimota line tripped following a fault in the afternoon on Thursday (27 June 2024), causing other transmission lines and generating stations in Aboadze, Kumasi and Tema also to trip.

A statement issued by GRIDCo on Thursday (27 June), said efforts are under way to restore power to the affected areas.

“The Ghana Grid Company Ltd (GRIDCo) wishes to inform the public that the Ghana power system experienced a disturbance which led to interruption of power supply to some consumers in Accra, Western and the Northern parts of the country.

“GRIDCo apologises for the inconvenience cased to all affected consumers,” the GRIDCo statement said.
