Gregory Afoko granted GHC500,000 bail in Adams Mahama murder case

Gregory Afoko, a key suspect in the 2015 murder of former Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adams Mahama, has been granted bail by the High Court in Accra.

The court set bail at GHC500,000, requiring two sureties with fixed places of abode, one of whom must possess landed property.

The court further tasked the registrar with verifying all documents submitted before the bail is granted.

Additionally, Gregory Afoko must report to the police once every two weeks.

Gregory Afoko was arrested in 2015 and is accused of conspiring with others to carry out a brutal acid attack that resulted in Adam Mahama’s death outside his home in Bolgatanga.

While the grant of bail represents a step forward for Afoko’s defence, the trial is still ongoing, with the state continuing with its prosecution.
