Umar Krupp: Juliet Asante got it wrong about Ghanaian movie producers

In a recent interview, Juliet Asante admonished producers to make good movies and stop complaining about the shortcomings of the industry

Ghanaian actor and film producer Umar Krupp has lashed out at the executive secretary of the National Film Authority Juliet Asante for calling on producers to produce good movies and stop complaining about the shortcomings of the industry.

Asante reportedly said producers who complain have nothing to offer.

However, speaking on the Rush Hour Show on Asaase Radio in Cape Coast, Umar Krupp strongly disagreed with her assertion.

Speaking in an interview with RazaSwaggy, Krupp said that there are several producers like himself who have invested heavily in movies both financially and talent-wise, but are yet to properly reap the benefits.

He also bemoaned the presence of gatekeepers in the industry who are always manipulating the system and wanting to reap where they have not sown.

He again mentioned the fact that the few opportunities and investment avenues available are not being given to the right people.

Krupp was, however, quick to commend Juliet Asante for doing very well in steering the affairs of the National Film Authority.

He applauded her for trying her best for the industry, calling on the veterans to collaborate with the young and vibrant ones to make the Ghanaian movie industry better.
