The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the government of intimidation and called for full disclosure over the unexplained presence of two foreign aircraft—an AirMed flight and a Cavok Air Antonov An-12B—that recently landed in the country.
In a statement issued on Sunday (6 April) the NPP said the government’s response, led by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, was inadequate and raised more questions than answers.
The party questioned the nature of the aircrafts’ missions, especially after reports that both developed faults while in Ghana.
The NPP also cited interest from the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, which has urged investigations into the flights, and criticised the government’s silence on two recent drug seizures worth over $500 million.
The party warned that a lack of transparency could harm Ghana’s international reputation and called for urgent updates from the security agencies.
The statement signed by Head of Communications Richard Ahiagbah reaffirmed the party’s commitment to holding the government accountable on matters of national security and international credibility.
