Government has two funding options – tax or borrow, says Ofori-Atta (full text)

The Finance Minister says the government’s fiscal consolidation agenda is going to be not only revenue-led but also expenditure-focused

Ken Ofori-Atta, the Minister for Finance, has reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing a coherent strategy which will offer opportunities to all Ghanaians by increasing resource mobilisation, managing expenditure prudently, creating jobs and offering skills training.

Speaking at the Information Minister’s regular press briefing on Wednesday (19 January 2022), Ofori-Atta said expenditure commitments for the Government of Ghana in 2022 will be adjusted to match revenue collection.

“We are also strengthening expenditure management in 2022 and beyond,” the Finance Minister said.
