Government declares 18 and 21 April public holidays for Easter celebrations

​The Ministry of the Interior has officially declared Friday, 18 April and Monday, 21 April 2025, as statutory public holidays in Ghana, in observance of Good Friday and Easter Monday, respectively. 

These holidays are part of the Christian Holy Week, culminating in Easter Sunday, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Good Friday and Easter Monday are recognised as public holidays in Ghana, allowing citizens to participate in religious services, family gatherings, and community events .

The Ministry’s announcement aligns with the annual statutory holiday calendar, which includes 13 public holidays and two commemorative days for 2025.​

As the Easter holidays approach, Ghanaians are encouraged to observe the period with reflection and celebration, honouring the cultural and religious significance of the season.​
