The police have placed a GHC 20,000 bounty on armed men who attacked a bullion van at Adedenkpo, a suburb of James Town in Accra on Monday leaving a police guard and a trader dead.
Supt. Sheilla Kessie Abayie-Buckman, director of public affairs of the Police Service announced the package on Tuesday.
The move, according to her, is to encourage the general public to volunteer information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects.
“Police continue to encourage the public to be on the look out for the perpetrators of the heinous crime that occurred at James Town in Accra.
“The Inspector General of Police has announced the reward of GHC20,000 to any person who gives credible information to the police for the arrest of the perpetrators and in this regard we assure informants of utmost protection of their identity,” Abayie-Buckman said.

A police officer guarding a bullion van was on Monday killed by armed robbers at James Town in Accra.
Speaking to the media, Accra Regional police spokesperson, ASP Afia Tenge, confirmed that a trader who witnessed the robbery incident was also killed in the process while the driver of the van sustained severe injuries.
An eyewitness said the gunmen sped on three motorbikes after the shooting incident. The robbers escaped with unspecified amount of money.
The driver of the bullion van is receiving medical attention at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
IGP visits family of murdered Cop
Meanwhile, the IGP has paid a visit to the family of Constable Emmanuel Osei of the National SWAT, who was murdered in cold blood by armed robbers during the bullion van attack.
He pledged the police administration’s resolve to bring the perpetrators to book.
A psychologist has also been assigned to the family.
