Google appeals key sections of U.S. antitrust ruling in Ad Tech monopoly case
Google files appeal against parts of U.S. court ruling that found it held illegal monopolies in digital advertising technology.

Following a landmark decision by a U.S. judge declaring that Google unlawfully monopolized segments of the digital advertising industry, the tech giant has officially filed an appeal challenging parts of the ruling.
The company’s appeal, lodged on April 18, 2025, disputes aspects of the court’s findings, though details of the specific areas being contested were not immediately disclosed. This move comes just a day after the original ruling, which significantly strengthened the Department of Justice’s antitrust case against Google.
While acknowledging the broader legal challenge, Google maintains its position that its ad tech business supports a competitive and open internet. A company spokesperson reiterated their belief that the case is flawed and that their tools benefit both advertisers and publishers.
Legal experts suggest that the appeal could complicate or delay potential remedies the court may pursue, including asset divestitures or operational restructuring.
The Justice Department, however, remains confident in its case and is prepared to defend the decision through the appeals process.
