The president announced that Kumasi International Airport is to be named Nana Agyeman Prempeh I International Airport

President Akufo-Addo has announced that the redevelopment of Kumasi International Airport is set to be completed and the facility to become fully operational by May this year.

The president was speaking during the State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Tuesday, (27 February).

President Akufo-Addo said the Kumasi airport is to be named the Nana Agyeman Prempeh I International Airport.

He added that, once operational, the airport, which is now at the 98% complete stage, will serve as a vital hub, boosting regional connectivity, tourism and trade in the Ashanti Region and beyond.

The president said the government’s priority to complete the airport reflects its determination to position Ghana as a leader in aviation excellence on the African continent.
