GIZ engages stakeholders on leveraging digital tools in Northeast

GIZ provides technical assistance and capacity-building support around the world, focusing on sustainable development, poverty reduction, and good governance

German development agency GIZ, in collaboration with Savanna Signatures, has held a stakeholder meeting in the Northeast Region to empower women entrepreneurs to make better use of digital tools in their businesses.

The engagement took place at Nii Dentis Hotel in Walewale on Tuesday (1 July), bringing together 35 entrepreneurs from the region.

GIZ provides technical assistance and capacity-building support around the world, focusing on sustainable development, poverty reduction, and good governance.

The meeting targeted women entrepreneurs who use digital platforms to promote their businesses. It aimed to identify the challenges they face when adopting digital tools and find solutions to help them thrive.

Racheal Antwi, gender and social inclusion officer at Savanna Signatures, said, “The entire goal of this is to gather women from different groups and demographics to brainstorm and identify barriers affecting them when leveraging digital tools for their businesses.”

She added, “Today, we discussed barriers and asked these women how they would like to be supported in leveraging digital tools.”

Antwi noted that some participants are already beneficiaries of GIZ programmes and will continue to receive support to strengthen their businesses.

Gifty Esi Essel, a participant from the NortheastBusiness Hub, praised the initiative: “This stakeholders’ engagement has helped us understand how to leverage digital tools to boost our businesses, communicate effectively with customers, and streamline our work.”

Nuhaa Ali, North East Innovation Hub coordinator, expressed appreciation for GIZ’s continued support: “We appreciate their support and assure them that we will utilize their assistance to continue empowering women and girls in the technological entrepreneurship ecosystem.”

With such engagements, GIZ and Savanna Signatures hope to strengthen the digital capacities of women entrepreneurs, enabling them to scale up their businesses and contribute to local economic growth.
