The trial of former National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mustapha Abdul Hamid and nine co-accused continued on Tuesday as prosecutors said the fourth defendant has indicated willingness to serve as a prosecution witness.
This updated is contained in a statement published by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
Dr. Hamid, alongside senior officials and associated companies, faces 54 criminal charges, including extortion, abuse of public office, and money laundering, linked to the collection of more than GHC291 million from oil marketing companies and bulk transporters between 2022 and 2024.
The prosecution said the fourth accused’s request is under review, potentially altering the dynamics of the ongoing trial.
Court proceedings are expected to continue as the judiciary assesses the witness application.
