Ghana’s 2024 FDI was $1.73bn, not $618m – BoG figures expose Franklin Cudjoe

Mr Franklin Cudjoe in a Facebook post claimed the in 2024, only $618 million of foreign direct investment was recorded by Ghana

The Founding President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, recently claimed on his Facebook Wall that Ghana attracted $618 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2024. However, official data from the Bank of Ghana (BoG) has proven his claim false.

On Friday, 16 May 2024, Mr Cudjoe posted the following: “Serious leaders are signing multi-billion-dollar deals for their countries. We spent 8 years signing away crooked deals to siphon off billions of cedis to friends and extensive family relations.

“In 2024, only $618 million of foreign direct investment was recorded. One man, a low-profile director, alone stole $7 million. Imagine how much has been raided by the uncountable big men and women. Thieves!” Franklin Cudjoe’s Facebook post read.

Referring to another post by Dr Yaw Ohemeng, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the director of communications for the Bawumia 2024 Campaign, challenged Franklin Cudjoe’s claims regarding Ghana’s figures for foreign direct investment in 2024, pointing out that the IMANI Africa boss was playing to the gallery just to favour the NDC administration.

Dr Yaw Ohemeng’s post, referred to by Dennis Miracle Aboagye, read: “Is Franklin Cudjoe all noise with no research acumen? Just a little search on the BoG website would have indicated to him (Franklin Cudjoe) that FDI for 2024 was over $1.7 billion and not the $618 million he’s bandying about.

“At least be honest with the facts. You can reach wherever you want to go without besmirching people’s reputations with lies,” Dr Yaw Ohemeng’s post read.

Miracles Aboagye, before referring to Dr Ohemeng’s clarification on Franklin Cudjoe’s claims, pointed out that he believes Mr Cudjoe’s recent approach to politics is not due to his lack of research but purely due to his quest to be mischievous towards the past New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

“Frankly speaking, I don’t believe Franklin is all noise,” he stated. “I think it’s just too much mischief “doing him” like that. The NDC’s “nibis dey” enter senior man too much these days,” Dennis Miracles Aboagye’s post on his Facebook Wall read.
