The government of Ghana has issued a stirring national appeal for citizens to send in written tributes honouring the eight gallant souls lost in the 6 August military helicopter crash.
In a notice released today, the Funeral Planning Committee urged individuals, institutions, and organisations to contribute condolences and personal messages for inclusion in the official State Funeral brochure.
Submissions should be emailed to tributes@presidency.gov.gh before Wednesday, 13 August, 2025, at 12 noon GMT.
The state funeral will be held on Friday, 15 August, 2025, at Black Star Square, commencing at 8:00 AM.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, said the victims’ “courage, dedication, and spirit” must inspire unity and a renewed commitment to nation-building.
The crash, which occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District, has left a deep scar on the national conscience. This call for tributes is intended to ensure their memories are not just recorded in history but etched in the hearts of Ghanaians forever.
