Bono Region: Nine students test positive for COVID-19

The region has recorded six deaths following the passing of two additional infected persons in the past few days

Nine students have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Bono Region, officials of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) have confirmed.

The students are from two Senior High Schools and a Teacher Training College in the region.

The Bono Regional Deputy Director for Public Health of the GHS, Dr John Ekow Otoo who revealed this in an interview with Asaase News said the infected students are in stable condition and are responding to treatment.

He said contact tracing is currently ongoing.

He further cautioned the public to take the COVID-19 safety protocols seriously following the recent surge in the viral disease.

Meanwhile, the region has recorded two additional deaths bringing the total number of people who have succumbed to the virus in the region to six.

Case update

At least 777 newĀ coronavirusĀ (COVID-19) cases have been confirmed taking Ghanaā€™s active cases to 5,786, reports the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

This takes the total number of confirmed cases since March 2020 to 68, 559. Nine more individuals have passed on increasing the death toll to 433 since the last update, reports the official GHS website.

Officially, 62, 340 recoveries have been recorded. In total, 1,135 cases have been detected at theĀ Kotoka International AirportĀ since September last year out of which 878 have recovered.

No patient is on a ventilator at the moment, reports the GHS. However, 126 are in critical condition.
