Ghana’s economy expanded by 5.5% in the third quarter of 2025, new data from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has confirmed.
The growth reflects continued economic activity across major sectors, although it is lower than the 7.0% recorded in the same quarter of 2024.
According to the Statistical Service, the expansion was largely driven by ICT, crops, trade, transport and storage, manufacturing, and education. Together, these sectors contributed about 86% of overall growth.
Government Statistician Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu explained the performance during a briefing on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, noting that services remain the largest contributor to national output.
“Industry grew by 0.8% in the third quarter of 2025, compared to 0.4% in the same period last year. The oil and gas sector dragged industrial growth with a contraction of about 18.2%, but manufacturing grew strongly with 3.9% compared to 7.4% last year of the same period.
“Services remained the strongest part of the economy. The sector grew by 7.6% contributing to the largest share of the economy of 40%, and contributed the most to the quarter three growth at 55.3%,” he said.
The latest GDP report highlights the continued importance of the services sector in driving Ghana’s economic performance.
