Ghana needs an upgrade, not a reset, says Bawumia

The presidential candidate of the NPP has outlined a 14-point plan to drive economic growth, digital innovation, and social progress

Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate for the December elections, has declared himself as the leader who represents Ghana’s future, asserting that the nation requires an upgrade, not a reset.

Addressing the media in Accra on Sunday (25 August), Bawumia outlined his vision for the country, emphasising the need for progressive change. “I represent the future, and Ghana needs an upgrade, not a reset,” he stated.

“What this country needs is an upgrade, not reset. And if given the mandate, I will roll out the measures outlined in our recently launched manifesto to revamp the economy.

“Sometimes I get amazed when former president Mahama talks about economic mismanagement. He should know his own record,” he added.

Bawumia also reiterated his 14 key commitments to the Ghanaian people, promising to build on the country’s current momentum.

His pledges include sustaining and expanding Ghana’s rebounding economy, creating new jobs, and implementing wide-ranging tax reforms. He envisions transforming Ghana into a world-class digital economy, reducing the cost of living, and expanding public infrastructure.

Other significant commitments include improving healthcare for all, implementing affirmative action for women and girls, and expanding educational opportunities.

Bawumia also highlighted his plans for good governance, care for the elderly, environmental protection, and boosting sports, creative arts, and tourism. Additionally, he stressed the importance of securing Ghana’s borders while ensuring safety within communities.
