Ghana is the jewel of Africa, says Nigerian-French singer Aṣa
Speaking with Solomon Ter on Asaase Radio’s Accra-Lagos-Joburg, the singer says Ghanaians and Nigerians have lived like siblings over the decades and should always remain so
Nigerian-French singer Bukola Elemide, professionally known as Aṣa on Saturday (26 February) expressed her love for Ghana, saying that the West African country is seen globally as an exemplary nation.
“Even we from Nigeria we are proud of Ghana. Ghanaians are easy and sweet people and this is coming from a Nigerian who is visiting the country,” Aṣa told Asaase Radio.
Talking to Solomon Ter on Asaase Radio’s Accra-Lagos-Joburg show, the singer said Ghanaians and Nigerians have lived like siblings over the decades and should always remain so.

“Ghana and Nigeria have shared a history and a relationship, and I don’t see any reasons why we shouldn’t support each other.
“Ghana brought Azonto and the world went crazy for it. Nigeria went crazy for it and it was played a lot on Nigerian radio stations,” the “Jailer” hitmaker said.
Sharing her thoughts on what Ghana means to her, she explained that Ghanaians are sweet and calm.
“I love that they are proud of what they have. They have beautiful landscape and they are steep in culture, my favorite artiste of all-time is Shatta Wale. I also love Efya, Gyakie and Becca but I am a fan of Shatta Wale.”
“V” album
The singer took to her Instagram handle @asaofficial to announce the drop of her new album “V” which features up and coming American artiste of Ghanaian decent Amaarae.
V is Asa’s fifth studio album released, she noted that she gives 100% of herself in every album.
“I’m on a journey, what I did in my first album I wouldn’t do same in my next album. For me, I’m always thinking about the listener.
“She (Amaarae) is awesome taking over, she is amazing and my song with her is one of my favorites,” the 39-year-old said.
When Ter asked the “Fire on the mountain” hitmaker how she would love to be celebrated, she said: “I will love to be remembered for the music and what my music does to whomever is remembering.”
