Ghana is now most preferred tourism destination in West Africa, says GTDC boss
CEO of GTDC, Kwadwo Odame Antwi, is attributing the feat to government's continuous investment in the tourism sector across the country

Ghana is now the most preferred tourist destination in the West Africa, chief executive officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Council (GTDC), Kwadwo Odame Antwi has said.
Prior to that, Ghana was ranked as the fifth preferred tourism destination in West Africa.
Odame Antwi is attributing the feat to governments continuous investment in the sector across the country aimed at making the sector a major income earner.
Speaking to sit-in host of the Asaase Breakfast Show, Ras Mubarak on Monday (26 December), Odame Antwi said the government is still investing in the tourism sector to make Ghana one of the most preferred tourism destinations in Africa.
“Ghana was placed statistically, I think we were doing about number five when it comes to visitation in West Africa. I am glad to report as we speak today that Ghana is number one tourists destination for tourism in West Africa.
“You will see that the assets we have in terms of tourism have been largely improved; from the Volta Region if you go to place like Wli, Afadjato, Kintampo, Assin Manso etc even sites that are managed by private entities like Manhyia Palace Museum.”
“And I am mentioning this because they have received direct government intervention in terms of financing to be able to put up some of the things we have seen. So there is a lot of things that have been done,” Antwi said.
