A significant reassignment of certain Regional Health Directors has been announced by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) as part of efforts to enhance the provision of healthcare services across the country.
These reassignments, which take effect on 14 April 2025, are intended to fortify the healthcare system and guarantee the accomplishment of GHS goals.
At GHS headquarters, Dr. Samuel Kwabena Boakye-Boateng, who was previously the Upper East Region’s Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS), will now be the Director of the Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Division (PPMED).
Additionally, Dr. Kennedy T.C. Brightson, who was previously the Shai-Osudoku Municipal Hospital’s Medical Superintendent, will assume the position of Acting Director of Family Health at GHS headquarters.
Dr Abdulai Abukari: Previously the RDHS for the Northern Region, he will now serve as the Director of Special Duties at GHS headquarters.
The GHS emphasised that these adjustments are required to meet the population’s healthcare needs and guarantee the efficient and effective delivery of health services.
