The Ministry of Finance has announced that the Government of Ghana has successfully completed a payment of US$349.52 million to service its Eurobond debt obligations. The payment was effected today, Wednesday (3 July 2025), through the Bank of Ghana.
The latest payment forms part of Ghana’s ongoing efforts to honour its external debt commitments following the Eurobond debt restructuring concluded in October 2024. According to the ministry, this brings total Eurobond debt service payments to US$1.17 billion since the restructuring agreement was finalised.
A breakdown of the payments shows that Ghana made an initial payment of US$475.60 million in October 2024, followed by US$349.52 million in January 2025, and now another US$349.52 million in July 2025.
“This brings Ghana fully up to date on all scheduled Eurobond debt service obligations for 2025,” the ministry said in a statement.
Looking ahead, the government is expected to service a total of US$1.41 billion in Eurobond debt in 2026. Officials emphasised that these timely payments underscore Ghana’s commitment to macroeconomic stability, prudent debt management, and constructive engagement with external creditors.
The ministry highlighted that the consistent servicing of the Eurobond debt is expected to positively impact Ghana’s credit ratings in the coming months. It is also anticipated to bolster investor confidence in the country’s sovereign credit profile and ongoing economic recovery efforts.
Furthermore, the ministry stated that the payment supports foreign exchange market stability, as it has been factored into the Bank of Ghana’s reserves and liquidity management strategy.
