Mobile Money transactions for first four months of 2022 hit GHC331.2 billion

According to data from the Bank of Ghana (BoG), mobile money transactions grew consecutively until April 2022 when it decreased slightly

Mobile Money transactions for the first four months of this year have hit GHC331.2 billion, the Bank of Ghana’s (BoG) Summary of Economic and Financial Data for May 2022 has shown.

This shows almost 10% year-on-year growth compared with the first four months of 2021 when mobile money transactions stood at GHC301.1 billion.

According to the BoG data, mobile money transaction for January this year was GHC76.2 billion and February was GHC76.8 billion.

The data also showed that mobile money transactions for March and April were GHC90.5 billion and GHC87.7 billion respectively.

The data shows that mobile money transactions grew for the first three months of this year but decrease in April.

Meanwhile, mobile money transactions for the same period in 2021 were also estimated at GHC67.1 billion in January 2021 and GHC67.9 billion in February 2021 whiles March and April last year were GHC82.3 billion and GHC83.8 billion respectively.

However, according to the data, mobile money interoperability recorded in the first four months reached GHC10.51 billion compared with GHC4.59 billion during the same period in 2021.
