Ghana drawn in favourable group for 2025 AFCON qualifiers
The Black Stars, who climbed to 12th in the CAF rankings after a strong showing in June, were placed in Pot 1 for the draw held on Thursday (4 July)
Ghana’s Black Stars have been handed a relatively straightforward group in the draw for the 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Stars, who climbed to 12th in the CAF rankings after a strong showing in June, were placed in Pot 1 for the draw held on Thursday (4 July).
This placed them among the top-seeded teams in Africa alongside hosts Morocco, defending champions Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Nigeria, Algeria, and Egypt.
Otto Addo‘s men were then drawn into Group F alongside Angola, Sudan and Niger.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the finals in Morocco, offering a clear path for Ghana’s return to continental prominence.
The Black Stars will be keen to make amends for their disappointing performance at the 2023 AFCON, where they failed to win a single game in the group stage.
The qualifiers are set to begin in September 2024.
