I’ve not endorsed Alan, says Ya Naa

The former minister of trade paid a visit to the paramount chief of Dagbon on Tuesday (21 February) and some reports of the visit said the Ya Naa told Alan Kyerematen that it is Alan’s time to lead the NPP as flagbearer

Ya Naa Abukari II, the overlord of Dagbon, has denied media reports that he has endorsed Alan Kyerematen as candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership.

Reports this week suggested that the Ya Naa endorsed the former trade minister when he visited the Gbewaa Palace on Tuesday (21 February).

But in a statement issued on Wednesday (22 February), the overlord of Dagbon said: “The attention of the Gbewaa Palace has been drawn to reports in various newspapers regarding the courtesy visit by the Hon Alan Kyerematen on His Majesty Ndan Ya-Na Abukari II.

“In particular, the reports suggest that His Royal Majesty had declared that it was the turn of Hon Alan Kyerematen to lead the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a flagbearer.

“His Majesty wishes to state categorically that he made no such claim,” the statement said.
