GES gets clearance to recruit over 16,000 teachers

The Ministry of Finance has granted financial clearance to the Minister of Education, to enable the director-general of the Ghana Education Service (GES) recruit 16,850 newly trained teachers.

In a letter dated 19 November, the Finance Ministry, noted that approval has also been granted for emoluments to be charged against the Compensation of Employees of the Ministry of Education in the 2021 budget.

The director-general of the Ghana Education Service has been tasked to ensure that the newly trained teachers have their documents processed in time and placed on the mechanised payroll early enough to enable the controller and accountant-general’s department effect payment of their salaries.
