NIA resumes registration and issuance of Ghana Cards

A statement issued by the NIA on Thursday (24 August), said it will not entertain or accept requests for the replacement of lost, stolen or damaged Ghana Cards during the exercise

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced that it will resume registration and issuance of Ghana Cards to Ghanaians aged 15 years and above, who are first-time applicants from Monday (28 August).

According to the NIA , the exercise will be available to such qualified applicants at eight out of 16 regional offices and all 276 district offices of the NIA nationwide.

A statement issued by the NIA on Thursday (24 August), said it will not entertain or accept requests for the replacement of lost, stolen or damaged Ghana Cards during the exercise.

“The National Identification Authority (NIA) is pleased to inform the general public that, effective
28th August 2023, it will resume the registration and issuance of Ghana Cards to Ghanaians
aged 15 years and above who are first-time applicants free of cost,” the statement said.

“The mandatory documents to be presented for registration are a genuine Birth Certificate, a valid Ghanaian Passport or a Certificate of Acquired Citizenship/ Naturalization, as may be necessary and appropriate.

“In the absence of any of the mandatory documents, a prospective applicant may be vouched for by a relative or two persons who possess a Ghana Card and know the applicant to be a Ghanaian,” the NIA statement added.
