Ahafo Region: Rural telephony sites near completion, says Boateng

The deputy Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Ama Pomaa Boateng says making mobile telephony available to rural communities is a priority for the government

The woes of the residents of Apenimedi and surrounding communities in the Asutifi North District of the Ahafo Region when it comes to mobile telephony is expected to soon come to an end.

This follows the initiation of a rural telephony project which is nearing completion in the area.

The deputy Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Ama Pomaa Boateng in an interview with Asaase News said making mobile telephony available to rural communities is a priority for the government.

“Government is looking forward to doing more of this, specially for us in the rural communities. We also want access to quality education and that can be done through the networks,” she said.

“We want access to financial services, we want access to good water, we want access to security, we want to do e-commence, we want to do business, we want to sell our things online.

“There are so many benefits that comes from getting connected. We know the community is eager to have the network switched on and so we are doing all our best to make sure we have it as early as possible,” Boateng said.
