Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, says the party is undergoing deep internal reforms aimed at aligning more closely with the expectations of the Ghanaian electorate.
Speaking to the media at the NPP’s ongoing National Delegates Conference on Saturday (19 July), Mr Blay acknowledged the frustration within the party following its loss in the 2024 general elections but urged members to focus on rebuilding with integrity and purpose.
“We are angry with ourselves, but we are angry that we are in this situation,” he said. “It takes a long time to correct the mistakes that are being made.”
Referencing the party’s 2009 strategy of Reflect and Recapture after its electoral defeat at the time, the former chairman stressed that the current moment calls for more than just a push to return to power.
“At the moment, it’s not just a question of recapturing. We are reforming, getting ready, preparing so that we can be in tune with the electorate,” he stated.
“It’s just rebuilt together with our values,” he added. “That’s how we move forward.”
