The officers breached the standard operating procedure of the Service during an operation to arrest persons allegedly involved in illegal power connections

Four police officers in Tamale have been interdicted for allegedly assaulting some residents in the Northern Regional metropolis, an official statement said.

The police statement issued on Tuesday (21 September) said the four breached the standard operating procedure of the Service during an operation with NEDCO/VRA officials to arrest persons allegedly involved in illegal power connections.

Images widely shared online show the residents being allegedly whipped by the police officers in question.

“The officers will face a service inquiry, subject to the regulations of the Ghana Police Service,” the statement said.
