Ghana has lost one of its pioneering business leaders, Marwan Traboulsi, who passed away peacefully in London on Tuesday, 30 September 2025.
Traboulsi, born in Accra to the late Amin and Sybil Traboulsi, was celebrated for his vision and drive in transforming Ghana’s agricultural and aviation sectors.
He began his career in trading before co-founding FARMEX, an agricultural company that developed mango and pineapple plantations into an international export brand. Recognising the need for reliable logistics for Ghana’s produce, he went on to establish Air Ghana, creating new cargo opportunities for Ghanaian goods bound for Europe.
Traboulsi’s impact extended to the aviation industry, where he played a key role in spearheading the Ghana Airport Cargo Centre (GACC) at Kotoka International Airport and introducing Swissport Ghana, a subsidiary of the global airport handling company. These ventures helped position Ghana as a logistics and aviation hub in West Africa.
“Marwan will be remembered as a true visionary, a man of energy, courage, generosity, and foresight. His legacy lives on through the enterprises he built, the opportunities he created, and the many lives he touched,” the family said in a statement.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, his two children, Cara and Karim, and four grandchildren.
A Book of Condolences has been opened at the Ghana Airport Cargo Centre, while funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
