Former MMDCEs declare full support for Dr. Bawumia’s 2028 NPP flagbearer bid

A forum of 220 former Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) who served under the last NPP government has declared strong support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the party into the 2028 elections.
At a press briefing in Accra, the former MMDCEs said their endorsement followed extensive consultations and a thorough assessment of all potential candidates.
“We are convinced beyond any doubt that Dr. Bawumia is the best candidate to lead the NPP to victory in 2028,” they stated.
Highlighting his track record in digital reforms, inclusive leadership, and broad electoral appeal, the forum described the Vice President as a “unifier and a proven asset” who offers the party its best chance in the next election.
The group pledged to mobilise grassroots support nationwide, using their networks across all 16 regions to drive campaign efforts.
“We are not just endorsing, we are activating our networks to ensure victory for Dr. Bawumia both in the primaries and the general election,” they added.
The NPP is scheduled to elect its flagbearer on 31 January 2026.
