The police have arrested a storekeeper of Sovie Technical and Vocational High School in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region, Allias Dziwu and his personal driver Christian Mane, for allegedly stealing food items belonging to the school.
The driver was caught by students of the school and some residents of the area while transporting the stolen food items to an unknown destination.
The DCE of the area Edmund Kudjo Atta told Asaase News that the incident happened on Wednesday evening.
He said the food items were part of the consignment received from the National Food Buffer Stock Company Limited to feed the students and to also address shortage of food in second cycle schools.
Mane, the driver, confessed to the act and said he was sent by the storekeeper, who happens to be the owner of the taxicab he drives.
The two suspects are in police custody to assist with investigation.
