Floods kill five in North East Region

The torrential rain which started on Wednesday (9 August 2023) in the region has also caused destruction to farmlands

Floods in the North East Region have killed five people so far, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in the region has confirmed.

The torrential rain which started on Wednesday (9 August 2023) in the region has caused destruction to farmlands, houses, bridges and roads across the six districts of the region.

The North East regional director of NADMO, Alhassan John Kweku said two people from West Mamprusi Municipality, two from the East Mamprusi Municipality and one from the Yunyoo district have been confirmed dead.

He said the NADMO team in the region was currently in Nalerigu to retrieve the fifth person from a dam.
