Western regional CHPS coordinator procures 70 adult weighing scales to support healthcare delivery

Fabiola Tizala, the CHPS coordinator of Western Region, acquired 70 adult weighing scales to support healthcare delivery.

The Western Regional Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) coordinator, Fabiola Tizala, has supported the Ghana Health Service with 70 adults weighing scales.

The move is to support healthcare delivery in the Western Region.

She was able to mobilise friends and family members to buy these items at GHC7, 000.

Health planner and businesswoman Fabiola bought items to support Ghana Health Service after observing their absence during CHPS facility visits.

Fabiola states, ” So on our various monitoring visits, there has been a lot of challenges, but amongst them is the equipment challenge, which weighing scale is part.”

Recognising the critical need for weighing scales in most CHPS facilities, she took it upon herself to address the gap. Despite the item’s importance, it was often overlooked, causing significant setbacks in the facilities’ operations.

With a keen eye for detail and a passion for improving healthcare access, she diligently researched and sourced the necessary materials to bridge the gap.

“I spoke with a few of my friends to help me buy these scales when I was ordering my items for sale, and thankfully I had positive feedback from some of them, and the rest is what we’re seeing”, Tizala said.

During a three-day working visit to the region, the deputy director general, Dr Anthony Adofo Fosu, commended the CEO of Chabby’s Essentials, a dealer in home essentials, beddings, fragrances, sofa covers, and kitchen appliances, for his great initiative.

Dr Fosu also encouraged others to follow suit and emulate this thoughtful gesture.

The items are at the Western Regional Medical Stores for collection.
