First Lady of Ghana, H.E. Lordina Mahama, met with her Zambian counterpart, H.E. Mutinta Hichilema, on Thursday, February 5, in Lusaka, marking a notable instance of cross-border cooperation among African first ladies.
The meeting, held during President John Dramani Mahama’s three-day state visit to Zambia, focused on sharing experiences and strategies related to social development programmes in both countries.
During their discussions, the two leaders exchanged insights on community projects, explored potential partnerships, and identified areas where Ghana and Zambia could support each other’s initiatives to enhance social impact.
Both first ladies reaffirmed their commitment to implementing programmes that address the needs of vulnerable communities, particularly in education, health, and women’s empowerment.
The meeting highlights the growing trend of collaboration between first ladies across Africa, who are increasingly engaging in initiatives that complement national development agendas and promote regional solidarity.
H.E. Lordina Mahama is accompanying President Mahama on his state visit, which aims to strengthen diplomatic ties and foster economic, social, and cultural cooperation between Ghana and Zambia.
