Passing of Theresa Kufuor: “It’s an irreplaceable loss,” says Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed his sincere condolences to the former president John Agyekum Kufuor following the passing of the former first lady Theresa Kufuor over the weekend.

In a tribute posted on Monday (2 October), Akufo-Addo said, “I am very saddened by the just-announced news of the death of Mrs Theresa Kufuor, our nation’s former First Lady and wife of the second president of the Fourth Republic, His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor.”

Akufo-Addo added that he would miss her a great deal.

“Her passing reminds me keenly of human mortality, that is that Almighty God will come for each and every one of us at the appropriate time.

“My wife, Rebecca, the First Lady, and I will miss her a lot,” he added.

Touching on the personality of the former first lady, President Akufo-Addo said, “Her warmth, kindness and grace were exceptional. She bore the vicissitudes of life with great stoicism and an unshakable belief in the sovereignty of Almighty God.”
