FIFA U-17 WWC Qualifiers: Black Maidens beat Guinea 3-1 in first leg

Ghana’s Black Maidens recorded a resounding 3-1 victory against Guinea in the first leg of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying third-round tie.

The Maidens opened the scoring through captain Georgina Ayisha Aoyem after just 13th minutes.

Shortly after that Rasheeda Shahadu consolidated Ghana’s lead with a tidy finish to end the first half 0-2 to Ghana.

The Guineans started the second half with more urgency and were rewarded just two minutes into the restart as Ghana scored an own goal.

However, the resilient Maidens restored their advantage not too long after that. Mariama Maltiti Iddi scored in the 59th minute from Success Ameyaa’s cross to make it 3-1 in the match played in Conakry on Saturday, April 16.

The Maidens will now return to Ghana to prepare for the 2nd leg of the tie on April 30, 2022 at the Cape Coast Stadium.
