FIFA begins audit of Ghana Football Association

Auditors from FIFA are already in Ghana to check the financial books of the Football Association spanning 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2020

The Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has begun auditing the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the 2020 financial year spanning 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2020.

It follows the arrival of auditors from the football governing body into the country on Saturday 15 May.

The arrival of the FIFA appointed Audit firm follows a successful Financial Reporting by the GFA on all FIFA Funds received during the period under review including the FIFA COVID-19 Relief Funds and an Audit Kickoff meeting on Tuesday 4 May 2021, via Microsoft Teams.

The FIFA Audit Kickoff Meeting focused on the arrival of the Audit Team, period of stay and areas to cover while the Audit Team also sought to clarity some specific areas of the Report including the FIFA Forward Reports.

It would be recalled that last year the GFA had a successful FIFA Audit for the period 2019 (1 January 2019 to 31 December 2019) though there was no on-site due to the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions.

For that period all the auditing works were done virtually using online audit tools because of the COVID-19 travel restrictions.

The Ghana Football Association last year received  $1 million in grants from FIFA after the world football governing body approved a $1.5 billion relief fund to help member associations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

FIFA also earmarked an extra $500,000 to support women’s football through the Ghana Football Association.
