Holidays in Ghana: Meat delicacies you must taste

You are on your way to Ghana for holiday or a visit, and as a way to welcome you to the 4th happiest country in Africa let me introduce to a type of meat you should strive to taste when you arrive in Ghana.

Meat is a very important part of human nutritional chain because of it richness in proteins.

Bush meat is the type of meat I would like to draw your attention to because of its essential nutrients, peculiar taste and healthy nature.

Bush meat delicacies face extinction if the current rate of bush meat hunting, deforestation and urbanisation goes on.

Examples of Bush meat include; Baboon, Antelope, Deer, Grasscutter amongst others.

In Ghana, bush meat is relished by most people and the ever-swift grasscutter popularly known in Ghana as Akrantie is often the favourite choice.

Grasscutter meat is considered very tasty by its patrons and rich in protein. It is also considered a healthier option because it is lean as it feeds on the natural vegetation of the forest, though a smaller quantity is reared.

It’s mostly hunted-down or trapped and killed with either hunting guns or indigenous traps. In processing, bush meats are mostly smoked which gives a smoky flavour and also makes it less fatty and preserved for a longer time. It is a delicacy for both the affluent and the ordinary.

Full grasscutter meat is more expensive than the regular domesticated meats and trust me its price is worth the meat.
