The African Development Bank (AfDB) has intensified talks with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) with the aim of redirecting the agency’s focus, the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has said.
Oppong Nkrumah, who met on Monday with a delegation from the AfDB led by its country director for Ghana, Eyerusalem Fasika, and the GNA, expressed his gratitude to the bank for supporting the GNA’s work.
“The African Development Bank (AfDB) has been a reliable partner to the Government of Ghana over the years,” Oppong Nkrumah posted on Facebook.

About GNA
The Ghana News Agency (GNA) was established on 5 March 1957 – the eve of Ghana’s independence – and charged with “dissemination of truthful, unbiased news”.
It was the first news agency to be set up in sub-Saharan Africa. GNA was part of a comprehensive communication policy that sought to harness the information arm of the state to build a viable, united and cohesive nation state.
The GNA therefore has a unique operating model of mobilising citizens for nation-building, economic and social development, national unity and integration.
