Volta Region: NDC maps out plan for 2024 victory

In a three-day retreat programme in Dzodze, the party's national hierarchy is currently building political knowledge of all executives from the various constituencies

The leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has instructed constituency executives in the Volta Region to be in complete control of their districts ahead of the 2024 general elections.

“As we develop our strategy here, let’s bear in mind what we can do to counter if the NPP plans to share resources, especially money before and on the election day,” the NDC MP for Ketu North James Avedzi said at the party’s seminar in the region.

For his part, the general secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, said: “Somehow, NPP makes it look as if it is wrong for us Volta people to take the NDC as a religion, there’s nothing wrong with it.”

Speaking on behalf of Volta MPs, the MP for Ho West, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra asked party executives to prioritise mutual respect for and between regional and national leaderships with a focus on how to unite against the NPP and win the election.

Secretary of the party in the region, James Gunu also said election 2020 “taught us lessons” and going into 2024, they need “new strategies.”

He revealed that, per their analysis, some 120,000 registered voters in the Volta Region did not vote in the 2020 elections while some 15,000 votes were rejected ballots hence the need for them to “put together resources towards victory 2024”.
