Fan Milk appoints Freda Yahan Duplan as new chairperson

Duplan takes over from Charles Mensa, who stepped down after 20 years of service as director and chairman

Fan Milk, Ghana’s leading manufacturer of dairy and beverages, announced the appointment of Freda Yahan Duplan as its new chairperson at its 63rd Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on 19 June 2024 in Accral.

Duplan takes over from Charles Mensa, who stepped down after 20 years of service as director and chairman.

“She will help us steer the affairs of this beloved Ghanaian brand committed to innovation, quality and customer happiness,” said Fan Milk managing director Lionel Parent.

Duplan brings a wealth of experience to the role. A trained computer scientist with nearly 30 years at Nestlé, she rose through the ranks to become the first African woman to hold a market head position within the multinational food and beverage giant.

She also served as the first Ghanaian managing director of Nestlé Ghana Limited.

Under Duplan’s leadership, Nestlé Ghana received numerous awards, including “Most Diversified Company of the Year” and “Baby Food Manufacturing Company of the Year” from the Ghana Export Promotion Authority. She is also a founding member of Ghana’s Executive Women Network.

Duplan joins Fan Milk at a pivotal moment. The company announced a return to sustainable profits, allowing it to resume dividend payments to shareholders after a six-year hiatus.

“I am extremely proud to announce that, for the first time in six years, we will be paying dividends to our shareholders, reflecting our commitment to sustainable growth in the year ending 2023,” said Parent.
