Family: We want IG model Tyger Booty autopsy done outside Ghana

Dasani Williams, known on Instagram as Tyger Booty, was found dead in a hotel room in Accra a few days ago

The family members of the late US Instagram model Tyger Booty have kicked against performing her autopsy in Ghana because they say they cannot trust the integrity of the exercise.

Dasani Williams, known on Instagram as Tyger Booty, was found dead in her room at the Rayporsh Hotel in Abelenkpe in the capital, Accra, during the Christmas break. The police at Tesano have confirmed to Asaase News that they have investigated the case and forwarded a report to Police Headquarters in Accra.

Speaking to the host of The Asaase Breakfast Show, Kwaku Nhyira-Addo, on Wednesday (29 December), Julie Williams, the family spokesperson, said they have heard that “Ghanaian officials can be corrupt” so they would prefer the autopsy to be done in the United States.

“We don’t trust Ghana health authorities will do a good job so we want the autopsy done in the United States,” Williams said.

Trust in the system

“None of us is from there [Ghana] and we’re not sure what will happen. People have told us Ghanaian officials can be very corrupt.

“We would rather have it done in the States where we can trust the system, because we don’t know anybody in Ghana. Everybody we talk to believes that something else is going on,” Tyger Booty’s sister added.

Williams also denied claims that her sister was into drugs. She said she suspects foul play.

“She does not do drugs and my sister doesn’t drink,” Williams stressed.

Consular assistance

Meanwhile, the US embassy has confirmed the incident and promised to assist the family with consular services.

“We can confirm the death of this US citizen in Accra. We offer our sincerest condolences to the family on their loss,” the press attaché of the embassy, Kevin Brosnahan, told Asaase News’s Beatrice Adu on The Big Bulletin.

“We stand ready to provide all appropriate consular assistance. Out of respect to the family during this difficult time, we’ve no further comment.”
