Newmont Africa has appointed Eugenia Anderson as the first female plant shift supervisor for its Akyem Mine located in Birim North District of the Eastern Region.

Anderson joined Newmont two years ago as a participant in the company’s graduate development programme.

The robust, two-year programme is designed to identify talent and prepare recent graduates for the mining industry by providing on-the-job experience and training.

Anderson thrived in the programme and went beyond learning only the technical responsibilities –

She branched out to support community outreach activities and internal programmes by volunteering on site with the women and allies business resource group.
