The former Chief Executive Officer of Ghana’s National Food and Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO), Abdul-Wahab Hanan Aludiba, on Wednesday denied corruption allegations made against him by the Attorney General, saying the claims were false and damaging to his reputation.
In a statement, Aludiba said he had “no involvement” in the issues referenced by Attorney General Dominic Ayine during a government press briefing in Accra, where Ayine linked him to alleged misuse of public funds and the acquisition of luxury assets while in office.
“I wish to state, respectfully, that these claims are untrue and do not reflect the facts of the matter. I find the comments deeply unfortunate,” he said, adding that his lawyers had been instructed to take steps to protect his reputation, including possible legal action.
Aludiba, who was arrested in June and detained for two weeks by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) before being granted bail of GHS 60 million, said he was confident that the legal process would clear his name.
“I look forward to the opportunity to present my side and to have my day in court, where I am confident that the truth will be made clear,” he said.
Ayine’s comments formed part of the government’s “Accountability Series,” an initiative aimed at outlining alleged financial wrongdoing by former public officials.
Aludiba said he had conducted himself ethically throughout his public service career and remained guided by principles of honesty, transparency and integrity.
