Erratic power supply: We are ascertaining liabilities and possible compensation to consumers, says PURC

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced an eight-day power outage to enable it undertake construction works at the Pokuase Bulk Supply Point

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) says it is in the process of ascertaining the liabilities and possibility of compensation to consumers for any loss caused by the recent erratic power supply in the country.

“Following the conclusion of the preliminary investigations, the commission in accordance with its regulatory processes is ascertaining the liabilities and possibility of compensation to consumers in recognition of any loss occasioned by the erratic power supply,” the PURC said in a statement.

The statement added, “The commission further encourages consumers to report any case of damaged equipment to the nearest ECG/NEDCo office for the appropriate action failing which the report may be forwarded to the PURC for redress.”
