The Economic Organised OCO is questioning Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale over the ownership of a luxury Lamborghini Urus, after he failed to provide credible documents to prove the vehicle legally belongs to him..
In a statement issued on Thursday (21 August) EOCO said the musician – born Charles Nii Armah Mensah – told investigators he bought the vehicle “from the Street” and only recalled the seller’s name as “ZAK”, who allegedly contacted him via WhatsApp.
Shatta Wale admitted he does not know the seller’s true identity and no longer has the number used for the transaction.
The only paperwork he presented to authorities was a customs declaration form in the name of Nana Kwabena Amuah, a man currently serving a prison sentence. EOCO said no valid sales receipt or transfer of ownership documents had been provided.
The case has prompted dozens of his fans to gather at EOCO offices demanding his release.
The musician was earlier granted bail of GHS10m with two sureties after being detained over alleged tax compliance issues.
His media manager, Samuel Atuobi Baah – also known as Sammy Flex – said Shatta Wale’s legal team was working to meet the bail conditions, adding that he remained confident of the artiste’s release.
