EOCO and GIPS explore ways of deepening partnership

A delegation from the Ghana Institute of Procurement and Supply visited the boss of EOCO to cement relationship with her office

A three-member delegation from the Ghana Institute of Procurement and Supply (GIPS) has paid a working visit to the executive director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah and her management team in Accra.

The visit was to strengthen bonds between the two institutions and explore avenues for collaboration.

The delegation led by the president of the institute, Simon Annan noted that procurement is usually associated with corruption and there is the need to erase that erroneous idea.

According to him, the institute is determined to streamline the body to better place them as a regulator.

He added that the institute is therefore working on a bill, which would regulate and sanitise the procurement sector. This, he said would help reduce the workload on the Office.

He added that the institute could also help develop investigators in the area of training on procurement related issues.

In her response, Addo-Danquah said that the office was ready to collaborate and help the institute to achieve its purpose. She added that the office could also rely on the institute in its investigation and prosecution processes.

The other members of the GIPS delegation were vice president of the institute, Dr William Oppong and a council member, Dr Dela Heloo.
